The Power of Priors
MammoScreen® was the first Artificial Intelligence software to incorporate priors into its algorithm’s consideration.

Benefits of Priors

More informed results

More accurate reporting

Analyse cases as a radiologist would
Just like a radiologist, MammoScreen takes a prior into account (typically a screening mammogram done two years ago) and delivers the results in a single report. The comparison with the prior is performed at the overall mammogram level.
With this feature, MammoScreen can adjust its score for greater specificity. By considering prior exams, false positives are significantly reduced in scores 9 and 10.
Priors Case Example
The following cases illustrate the increased data analysis of MammoScreen with priors.
The 2D without prior was scored a 5.

Patient 2D screening no priorMammoScreen Score: 5
The 2D with prior was scored at 7 and determined that the change in mass was suspicious.

Patient 2D screening WITH priorMammoScreen Score: 7
The evaluation using tomosynthesis alone, without considering prior exams, produced a score of 7.

Patient 3D screening no priorMammoScreen Score: 7
With tomosynthesis and the inclusion of a prior, based on the lesion’s observed progression, MammoScreen Score increased to 9, classifying it as highly suspicious.

Patient 3D screening WITH priorMammoScreen Score: 9
Frequently Asked Questions about Priors
MammoScreen was the first AI to incorporate priors into its consideration in May 2022 and has the longest experience in utilising prior exams compared to other existing software. While other vendors have begun to recognise the value of priors and are starting to integrate this feature, it is not yet available across all AI solutions.
The goal of incorporating priors is to evaluate lesion evaluation over time. The score may change based on the evolution or stability of the lesion. The overall accuracy of MammoScreen improves when incorporating priors.
If there is a prior exam available in the PACS, and it fits the criteria of being within 6 to 60 months of the current exam, MammoScreen will automatically pull the prior exam and take it into consideration.
Since the prior is pulled and sent into the algorithm at the same time, there is minimal impact on processing of cases.
The prior exam must have occurred within 6 to 60 months of the current exam.
